Frequently asked Questions

CBD BASICS

What is CBD? How does it affect the body?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol and is one of many different cannabinoids (or compounds) naturally found in Hemp. CBD does not create any of the psychoactive effects as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and has been found to have several medical benefits. Research shows that CBD targets a variety of proteins located in the brain and nervous system that control cell activities throughout the human body. Due to its interaction with the body’s signaling systems, CBD acts as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, antiemetic, anxiolytic and antipsychotic agent, and is therefore a potential remedy for a wide range of health issues.

What is hemp derived full-spectrum CBD?

Hemp under the 2014 US Farm Bill can be cultivated for industrial use in certain states. It is classified as Hemp, if its THC content is below 0.3%. Hemp used for this coffee is grown organically and pesticide-free in Colorado and is derived from solvent free CO2 extraction for full spectrum extracts. Full spectrum CBD contains not only Cannabidiol (CBD) but also a variety of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, protein & terpenes (oils).

COFFEE & CBD INTERACTION

How does the CBD oil and caffeine interact within the body?

The chemistry between caffeine and the added CBD oil create an energizing buzz that lasts beyond the standard cup-of-Joe. Due to caffeine’s water-solubility and the CBD oil-solubility, some of the caffeine transfers and binds with the oil during the curing process creating an extended affect as your body metabolizes the two forms. The combination of an early onset caffeine-high followed by a slower caffeine release as your body digests the CBD/caffeine oil, creates the perfect balance without the jitters or commonly upset stomach that accompanies a standard coffee beverage.

Is the coffee lab-tested?

Of course! We have each batch independently tested by Third Party lab for accurate cannabinoid potency after infusion to ensure levels of THC are within Federal regulation.

Will I get high from drinking the coffee?

Not at all! Though high-THC marijuana and hemp originate from the same cannabis plant, hemp only contains trace amounts of the psychoactive cannabinoid, THC, and higher amounts of CBD. Under the 2014 US Farm Bill, the federal government determines cannabis to exist as hemp when it contains less than 0.3% THC. While some THC is present in the coffee, it certainly is not concentrated enough to experience any psychoactive effects.

Will I fail a drug test?

With instructed use of our coffee, it is highly unlikely that you will fail a drug test. However, due to use of full spectrum hemp CBD, drug testing panels may determine the presence of THC even though it exists at nearly undetectable levels in our coffee. In summary, we recommend exhibiting caution since there is a small possibility just like any other CBD products that are not guaranteed THC Free.

BREWING RECOMMENDATIONS

How much coffee should I drink?

A standard daily dose of CBD is 10 – 25 mg. We would suggest brewing 2 TBSP of finely ground coffee to 10 oz of water. Since we infuse our coffee beans at a 1 mg CBD to 2 mg coffee ratio, that means there are 5 mg of CBD in the ground beans or 5 mg CBD per brewed 10 oz cup of coffee. We suggest you start with one cup a day and add more servings as necessary.

Brewing Recommendations

We would suggest brewing 2 TBSP of finely ground coffee to 10 oz of clean, filtered water.

Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy!
